“Abysmal,” that’s what one Burnaby City Councillor is calling the region’s snow response this cold winter.
City Councillor Nick Volkow says Metro Vancouver was not ready to deal with the snow this winter.
He says there’s no excuse – as all cities were given a heads up of the upcoming snow.
“The ill-preparedness when it comes to the supply of salt, sand and whatever else we need, is to me a bit of a surprise, and dare I say it, I’m quite shocked as to how ill-prepared the region has been for this.”
But going forward, he says there needs to be a unified response.
“I think this is really a time for the bigger minds to start sitting down and figuring out region-wide policies when it comes to this.”
He says maybe the region should bring someone from the East to help the cities implement a winter plan.
