It’s been a rough go for Highway 5, when the stretch of highway closed for a second time just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday night.
It was re-opened little more than an hour later, shortly before 1 a.m. Friday.
A snowfall warning, which has since been rescinded, heralded the poor weather that would ultimately cause crews to close it in both directions between Hope and Merritt at around 3:30 p.m.

Little more than 90 minutes later, an accident at the Portia Interchange, about 30 kilometers north of Hope, closed it in both directions once again for about an hour.

Another accident shortly after 2 a.m. just north of Hope at Othello Road reduced traffic down to single lane alternating, making traveling the already bad stretch of road even worse.
