During the holidays, family members bond during what many people consider to be the most festive time of the year.
But for seniors living in a care home, that’s not always the case.
Mike Klassen, Vice-President of the BC Care Providers Association, says it’s tough being alone.
“Leads to higher risk of mortality, and also has more impact on health outcomes.”
Klassen says one of the nicest gifts you could give to a senior living in a care home is to make a connection through an in-person visit or even a phone call.
“Just that kind of person-to-person contact that can really make a huge impact on somebody’s happiness and their health.”
BC Care Providers is encouraging everyone to make time for a special visit this holiday season.
