CEO of the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association say they are counting on the city’s new top cop to clean up the Whalley Strip.
“I think anything would help in this area, and yes it was I think a lot of people were pleased to see something was being done that was a proactive approach,” says Elizabeth Model, who explains anything that helps improve the area is a good move.
Surrey RCMP is setting up a satellite office and will be working 24/7 in the heart of 135 A Street to connect the homeless with services.
“We have a meeting set up with our business members in early January to ask them and ask for feedback with how businesses are impacted and to see how things are going and obviously have a follow up with the necessary parties at that time as well.”
Model says the BIA will be meeting in January to gauge how the changes are making an impact.
She says it’s been nothing but frustration up until now for both businesses and the homeless struggling to survive in the area.
