Transit Police will carry naloxone kits with them starting Wednesday in a bid to tackle the deadly opioid crisis.
More than one hundred officers have been trained in administering the anti-opioid drug and Wednesday they will be deployed with the kits for the first time.
Right now, Transit Police have 40 kits and are expecting to be given 175 more.
Media spokeswoman for the Metro Vancouver Transit Police Anne Drennan says by having officers equipped with the kits, vital time will be saved when it comes to saving lives.
She says their officers deal with more people who are under the influence of drugs, perhaps more than any municipality across the city.
