A man is in hospital after a horrific workplace incident in Delta this afternoon.
Spokesperson for Delta Police Sharlene Brooks says the railway worker was on the job near the on Deltaport Way when he was struck by a passing train.
“What we know at this point is that a worker with the railway was working on the tracks and was unable to get off the tracks in time for the passing train,” she says.
“He was subsequently struck and sustained very serious injuries.”
It’s feared the man may need to have both legs amputated.
WorkSafeBC is now investigating the matter.
