One day anyone over the age of 18 may be able to walk into London Drugs and buy marijuana.
Pharmacy VP John Tse says right now they’re focused on getting approval to sell medical pot, but says first-time recreational pot users may want advice from a pharmacist.
“There will be people that never used it would want to potentially try it. We believe those individuals need to have education, advice, guidance, the dos and don’ts, operating a motor vehicle, age groups, there is a lot of support we believe the user of recreational marijuana would need.”
He says data collected might be useful.
“…we also anticipate that the federal government would want to track that, the provincial government would want to track the distribution of it, pharmacy is capable of doing that today, in a slightly modified form.”
But the federal task force recommends recreational marijuana not be sold in the same location as alcohol or tobacco.
The 106-page document makes dozens of non-binding recommendations.
