Two days of snow in the Lower Mainland has meant for a busy week at ICBC’s dial-a-claim centre.
Spokesperson Sam Corea says every day this week has topped 2,800 – the average daily number of calls.
“Starting with Monday, more than 5,100 calls to our call centre, and then that continued throughout the week with 4,200 on Tuesday, almost 4,000 on Wednesday, and on Thursday 3,500, so tapering off a bit, but today, we’re back up again, it’s 2,400 calls as of 3 p.m. this afternoon.”
Corea says on both Monday and Friday, the snow days, more than 70 per cent of the calls came from Metro Vancouver.
“The average daily call volume is 2,811, so we’re well above that right now, for this week. And we’ll see what happens over night and into the weekend.”
He says drivers need to slow down, and leave enough space between other cars.
Corea also advises people to “stick a toonie in your tire tread. If your tread doesn’t touch the gold centre, speak to an expert about new winter tires.”
