ICBC adjusters are dealing with thousands of claims after Monday’s snowfall, with only a few dozen being blamed on snow and ice falling from bridges.
Spokesperson Sam Corea says of the more than 4,300 calls they’ve received 30 were about damage on the Alex Fraser bridge – 10 complaints about the Port Mann.
“We can’t confirm how the damage occurred on these vehicles whether it’s from ice falling or being thrown up from other vehicles or other factors such as wind.”
Corea says with more bad weather expected this week people should make sure they are prepared to be out on the roads or look for alternative ways to get around.
ICBC’s latest numbers show yesterday’s storm led to 4,366 calls to their claim line.
According to the company that is a 13% increase from the first Monday of December last year.
78% of the calls were made from the lower mainland.
