A 27-year-old man is dead after being found unresponsive on Blackcomb Mountain Saturday.
He was found near the Arthur’s Choice run; people nearby were performing CPR before Ski Patrol arrived shortly after noon.
Despite their best efforts, the snowboarder was pronounced dead at 1:17 p.m.
The BC Coroners Service are investigating, and say the death was not avalanche related.
Whistler Blackcomb has released a statement on the incident.
“At 12:15 p.m. the first Blackcomb Ski Patrol arrived on the scene and took over CPR from members of the public. A support team followed equipped with an AED defibrillator. At 1:17 p.m. the snowboarder was pronounced deceased. The RCMP were notified of the incident and are currently investigating. Whistler Blackcomb would like to express its sincere condolences to the deceased’s friends, colleagues, and family,” the statement said.
