A tragic morning in Surrey after head-on crash in the 8100 block of King George Blvd.
Police shut down parts of the highway Sunday morning, just after 8 a.m. after the head-on collision.
Police say both drivers were killed.
They are still trying to piece together what exactly happened.
Police want motorists to avoid the area around King George Highway between 80 and 84 Ave.
Surrey RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team ( CCIT ) along with the Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services ( ICARS ) are both on scene and conducting their investigation.
Meantime in Delta, another fatal motor vehicle accident took place on Hwy 10.
Police responded to a report of a collision between a semi-truck and a Jeep in the 10400 block of Ladner Trunk Road just after 8:30 Sunday morning.
“It is believed that the jeep was travelling eastbound on Ladner Trunk Road and went off the roadway to the right, striking a stationary semi-truck and trailer that was parked off the roadway. The driver and lone occupant of the jeep died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision,” reads a statement from police.
Police continue to investigate.
Surrey Assistant Fire Chief Chris Keon has since confirmed that the victim in the Ladner Trunk Road crash was a 15-year veteran of the department.
