A new emergency area for mental health and substance abuse patients will open at Abbotsford Regional Hospital next summer.
The unit will provide a therapeutic treatment space.
Hospital Executive Director Valerie Spurrell says the unit will work in conjunction with other long-term mental health facilities in the area.
“We definitely work in a continuum of care and these services are very complimentary of other services that were introduced in the area. We have a new hospital community liaison team that supports patients that are discharged so all those continual services, this just enhances that one part of the continual emergency area.”
Spurell says the unit will open in the summer of 2017.
