Independent MLA Vicki Huntington says Delta is a non-starter when it comes to the Kinder Morgan pipeline proposal.
She’s rejecting a suggestion by former Premier Mike Harcourt, that Delta’s Roberts Bank terminal might be a better place for the pipeline to end, if environmental protests force Prime Minister Trudeau to reject the current terminus in Burnaby.
Huntington says the Fraser River delta is
“critical ecological habitat for millions of threatened shorebirds and salmon, and a bitumen spill on Delta’s foreshore would be a disaster with monumental environmental, social, and economic consequences.”
She says like Alberta Premier Rachel Notley who suggested the same thing last year, Harcourt is the latest political figure who does not understand the sensitive habitat at Roberts Bank.
