RCMP are launching an internal investigation after a video of two teens in an altercation with Prince Rupert officers has surfaced online.
At around 12:50 a.m. Saturday morning, Prince Rupert RCMP were called to reports of a fight where they found a 16-year-old male in medical distress.
According to an RCMP release by Sgt. Jagdev Uppal, officers called an ambulance for the teen, but he allegedly became combative and tried to fight police as well as paramedics upon their arrival.
An 18-year-old female also allegedly became combative and assaulted police, following this she was taken into custody.
By Monday, a portion of the incident caught on video was uploaded online and has since received nearly 20,000 views.
RCMP are attempting to locate the person shown in the video, as well as any potential witnesses. After receiving a public complaint in regards to the officers’ actions, the RCMP have begun an investigation into internal conduct.
