Pemberton and area residents are cleaning up today after heavy rain caused wide-spread flooding, forcing some residents out of their homes.
An evacuation alert was issued on Wednesday, with about 20 residents forced out of their homes.
It was rescinded yesterday after the flood warning was downgraded to a high streamflow advisory, due to declining river flows.
Squamish-Lillooet Regional District emergency program manager Ryan Wainwright says nine properties flooded, but conditions did not worsen overnight.
“We had steady rain overnight here in the Pemberton Valley but it was not intense rain, it was just sort of gentle sprinkling overnight,” he said. “We have seen the rivers go down to much more manageable levels. We don’t have any active flooding areas.”
25-30 millimeters of rain is expected to fall in the Pemberton area until Saturday.
