Residents in Abbotsford are dealing with a major water main break that took place early Saturday morning.
“Two residences are displaced, with around 10 people as a significant amount of water flowed into their homes.”
There was enough water that a what looked like a small lake formed in the street.
Assistant Fire Chief Craig Bird says an 8′ inch water-main had breached at around 2am Saturday morning in the 33,000 block of Marshall road.
An alert officer noticed the break first and jumped into action as he noticed water gushing into near-by homes.
Within minutes there was over five feet of water in some basements and the backyard of at least one home.
The officer pulled one resident from a basement suite out through the basement window.
It took just under an hour for City crews to get the water shut off but by then a small lake had formed in the street as well as affecting several houses and temporally displacing residents.
