Passenger numbers at Vancouver Airport have soared to an all-time high.
In a report to Vancouver council Vancouver Airport Authority President and CEO Craig Richmond says in 2015, 20 million passengers passed through YVR – a jump of almost five per cent over 2014.
Richmond says the goal is to reach 25 million passengers by 2020.
“We’re on our way to that but why is that important? It’s important because these passengers would result in five-thousand to seven-thousand new jobs in B.C. and up to $500 million in additional GDP (gross domestic product) to the B.C. Economy.”
YVR employs 24,000 people.
