The community of Golden and neighbouring towns are rallying around a local female RCMP officer who was shot and wounded on Tuesday.
Grand Forks RCMP officer Nicki Jo Wolfram posted on the “Golden Classifieds” Facebook page that they’ve set up a donation account through CIBC to support Cst. Amber Brunner in her recovery.
Wolfram says the officer, who was shot in the arm, is doing well, in good spirits and recovering in hospital.
Sheldon Thunderblanket was charged with first degree murder after alleging killing his ex-girlfriend and injuring her sister Monday night on a Saskatchewan First Nation.
He’s believed to have fled to B.C. where he was accused of shooting Cst. Brunner during a traffic stop near Golden the following day.
He was later found dead.
B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office is investigating.
