Surrey RCMP have confirmed they are investigating a complaint of “banking irregularities” involving the Parent Advisory Council at K.B. Woodward Elementary school, reportedly in the range of $30,000 missing from its account.
Corporal Scotty Schumann from Surrey RCMP says an investigation was launched on September 16.
Schumann says the RCMP don’t normally comment on ongoing investigations, but says it became public knowledge after a letter was sent by the school to parents.
CKNW has obtained a copy of a letter sent home to parents from KB Woodward PAC executives saying they had received a statement from their bank which “seemed wrong.” As it turns out, the account had been stripped of all its funds.
The executive then contacted Surrey RCMP, and goes on to say the executive “is focused on developing a fundraising event to start regenerating funds as quickly as possible.”
