Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald confirms the investigation “into a number of allegations involving the Kelowna detachment” began in early September.
He wouldn’t confirm the nature of the allegations, but says they will follow the “evidence to whatever place it leads.”
This comes at the same time the Officer in Charge of the Kelowna RCMP detachment, Superintendent Nick Romanchuk suddenly quits the force.
“Supt. Nick Romanchuk had taken time off since early September and he decided to retire from the RCMP on Monday September 26, 2016,” Sgt. Rob Vermeulen with BC RCMP told CKNW in an email.
Vermeulen says an interim Regional Detachment Commander remains in place.
He says they will be working with local government partners to choose the next Detachment Commander.
