If you were hoping to catch Louis C.K. at one of his two Vancouver shows this December, you’re out of luck.
The tour dates were announced yesterday for Dec. 7 and 8 performances in UBC’s Thunderbird Sports Centre, and after a few hours they were completely sold out. These are the only Canadian stops slated for his North American tour.
Aside from his immense popularity, cheap tickets were also a likely factor in them running out so quickly. Louis C.K. is known for keeping his ticket prices low, many times selling for $50 or less.
Now, anyone looking to score a seat might be contemplating reaching out to resale hubs, but Louis himself is warning against that on his website.
“Regarding ticket resale: we take great efforts and have many methods of finding out what inventory is being sold on “broker” sites like Stubhub and Vivid Seats and immediately invalidating those tickets. Due to this we recommend that anyone who chooses to purchase these seats does so at their own risk. If the ticket becomes invalidated, we are not responsible, and unfortunately the consumer could lose money and not get into the show. We cannot tell anyone specifically which seats will be invalidated but we can tell you that there is a legitimate chance that any and all of them can be.”
Tickets selling out fast in Vancouver, and soon afterwards appearing all over resale sites is nothing new. Many other big ticket performances suffered a similar fate to the dismay of local fans.
But it looks like Louis’ method is working well, Craigslist and Facebook sites seem to be dominated with people looking for tickets, not selling them off.
