Washington State’s Governor is promising to improve the Amtrak passenger train service between Vancouver and Seattle.
Speaking to a cross-border conference in Vancouver, Jay Inslee says work’s underway to make passport checks more streamline.
“We’re working with the U.S. Congress and the Canadian parliament to ratify a pre-clearance agreement that would allow U.S. and Canadian border agents at the Vancouver Station, this will eliminate the 15-minute stop. I hope we can get this done.”
Inslee says the route has seen strong ridership growth in the past year with more than 150,000 passengers heading south to Seattle, generating more than $11 million for the economy.
