One of the first polls eight months before the provincial election shows the NDP have a lead over the governing Liberals.
The Mainstreet Research poll shows the NDP have a five point lead with 38 per cent support among “decided and leaning” voters, compared to the Liberals 33 per cent.
President Quito Maggi is asked about polling accuracy, given pollsters were so wrong about the 2013 election.
“I think there will be more greater scrutiny both on the polling numbers this time because of sort of the results that happened in 2013, but I think people have learned their lesson.”
The NDP has strong support on Vancouver Island where the party holds 11 of 14 seats.
The Liberals are more popular in the Interior with 36 per cent support.
It’s a virtual tie in Greater Vancouver, home to some of the most hotly contested ridings.
