Britannia Secondary School’s student president says they will fight to show their support to other schools facing the axe.
Farim Alam and the rest of his school celebrated the good news that their Britannia would stay open after months of public rallies and protests.
But the fight’s not over yet.
He suggests the other 11 schools who are still at risk should make their voices heard.
“It’s a good strategy. I think it will definitely get them on the map too. We got support from multiple MPs aswell. We held a rally last Thursday, we had [NDP MP] Jenny Kwan and [NDP MLA] Shane Simpson come to our meeting and it was just great. They both spoke and I definitely recommend this is the way to go if you want to save your school.”
The final list of school closures will be approved on Sept. 26.
