An online survey by Insights West shows that 76 per cent of British Columbians are in favour of the 15 per cent foreign buyer tax.
B.C. Premier Christy Clark introduced the tax to give local the first shot at buying here, but many doubt it will have an impact.
Two-thirds of B.C. residents think the new tax will be unsuccessful in opening up the market and marking it affordable. A proportion that includes 67 per cent of B.C. Liberal voters from the last provincial ballot.
Support is highest among residents who voted for the BC NDP’s.
