A video by “vigilante” group “Creep Hunters” in Kelowna has resulted in charges against former Kamloops Sheriff Kevin Johnston.
Special Prosecutor Michael Tammen has approved four charges against Johnston.
The B.C. Criminal Justice Branch says charges include three counts of communicating with a person believed to be underage for the purpose of facilitating a sexual offence and one count of invitation to sexual touching.
The alleged offences are said to have taken place between August 8 and August 27, 2016 at or near Kamloops and Kelowna.
The Criminal Justice Branch says Johnston is no longer employed with the B.C. Public Service.
Creep Hunters used the decoy of a 14-year-old girl who was new to town, taking it to Craigslist looking for someone to talk to.
She says Johnston allegedly sent her inappropriate pictures of his “private area.”
When it came time to meet the sting was caught on camera.
His first court appearance for the approved charges is set for October 20, 2016.
