It was billed as a rare chance for Vancouver’s Post-Grizzlies NBA fans to get a taste of the action.
But We the North, or at least many of us, won’t be catching a glimpse of the Toronto Raptors or the NBA-Finals runner up Golden State Warriors on October 1st.
In a scene reminiscent of the controversy surrounding Tragically Hip tickets, seats for the rare pre-season matchup vanished from Ticketmaster in mere minutes.
Of course, in what’s become a familiar game, tickets aren’t actually impossible to get.
They’ve just migrated to online ticket reslling sites like StubHub, where a seat to watch NBA superstar Steph Curry will run you anywhere from $200 US for the nosebleeds, up to nearly $3,200 for courtside.
Hopeful fans who missed the official ticket window have been quick to vent their feelings online, some blaming scalpers.
Tickets on sale at 10am, sold out 10:01am = scalpers got them all. Toronto Raptors vs. Golden State Warriors 1 Oct. https://t.co/uTfCFLG48t— Doug (DA) Anderson (@DATopTalent) September 2, 2016
