A deal has been struck to avoid strike action at Victoria’s Empress Hotel.
Stu Shileds, a spokesman for Unifor says both sides settled on an agreement at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
“The settlement addresses all the concerns that were driving the strike and we’re pretty confident that this is going to be ratified.”

The trade union had threatened to strike this Labour Day weekend over excessive overtime and working conditions.
About 500 employees working at the historic hotel have been without a contract since February.
