The busy season continues for North Shore Rescue, the team has been called out this hour for three lost hikers near Grouse Mountain.
Team Leader Mike Danks says the elderly couple and their adult daughter called for help after getting lost and into steep terrain on Mount Fromme.
“They got off trail and they’re in a situation they don’t feel comfortable in, and that’s exactly what they want them to do. We’ve got lots of daylight to get in now and go get them.”
Danks says crews have a good idea of where the three are, and will walk them out after making contact.
He also says the couple in their 60’s and daughter were smart to ask for help before it started getting dark.
“And they actually got off trail and started heading directly up towards Fromme Mountain, and they’re in terrain that they just don’t feel comfortable in. And they’re just basically not able to move, so they made the right choice and made a phone call.”
