It’s been nearly a week since the official search for missing Delta hiker Gord Sagoo was called off, but his family is pressing ahead with a private search.
A GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $35,000, which family is using to back continued efforts including K9 teams.
His daughter Amandeep says each day she’s hopeful for a breakthrough.
“I honestly hope it ends today, that the dogs somehow find a trace of him, and maybe the public search will open up again, or they just find him and he comes home tonight. I don’t want to see it go any longer, but as long as it does take, I will keep searching for him because there’s no doubt in my mind he is okay.”
She says she’s hopeful a clue could turn up – prompting search and rescue teams to join back in.
“If this was us in his position, he would never give up on us. So we know he’s out there waiting for us and we’re not going to give up on him.”
Sagoo disappeared two weeks ago after separating from friends while hiking Baby Munday peak in Chilliwack’s Cheam range.
An intensive ground and air search has failed to turn up any trace of him.
