A B.C. Supreme Court judge has ordered a medical marijuana shop in Delta to close.
The Corporation of Delta went to court to try and shut down “WeeMedical” that began operating a retail medical marijuana dispensary in April on 120th Street.
The basis for Delta’s application was twofold: WeeMedical lacks a business licence and the operation contravenes zoning.
The judge hearing the case has ruled a permanent statutory injunction is appropriate.
He says once the criminal law in relation to medical marijuana is changed there will be a different legal landscape to consider.
Until that happens he says, all people in B.C., including WeeMedical, are required to obey the law.
The shop has been given three days to close.
