The nearly 100 seniors displaced by a devastating Surrey condo fire this weekend have now been moved to temporary accommodations.
Councillor Bruce Hayne says they’re getting help from emergency social services and that aid agencies have stepped in to help collect donations.
“The salvation army and the red cross are coordinating the donation effort. A quick call to them or onto their website or to our website as well will give people locations to be able to donate either money or items that people would need.”
Hayne says he’s pleased to see there’s already been an outpouring of community support.
The blaze broke out late Saturday evening at a condo building at 121A street and 82nd avenue, and is not believed to be suspicious.
The City of Surrey is encouraging residents to donate to the Red Cross or Salvation Army to help those affected by the fire.
