A three-year-old boy who had been missing on Vancouver Island has been found this morning safe and sound.
Paul Berry with Comox Valley Search and Rescue says an extensive search involving Mounties, search and rescue, and search drones and helicopters paid off when the boy was found just before 11:00 a.m.
“Teams were activated just after 9:30 last night. Both RCMP and search teams, to look for this young fellow.”
Officials say he was last seen on his bike last night in the Union Bay area, near Courtenay, and a search had been underway since then.
One neighbour speaking with Global News says the child was on his push pedal bike.
RCMP confirm the boy was out playing in the area, which is quite forested and has lots of long grass.
The boy was found in good condition and had been eating berries in order to avoid starvation.
Berry says the boy’s parents were relieved.
