Today marks the one year anniversary of the Rock Creek wildfire near Osoyoos.
The fire forced hundreds of people to flee the area, and scorched dozens of houses and buildings, and today some are still rebuilding.
Georgina Hardy says she was ‘smoked out’ of her trailer park home in Rock Creek.
“Fire came right up to my steps on the front, it burnt all the back of my lawn and it just come about right up on my deck.”
One year later, her home is yet to be completed.
“Oh yes. We still have to rebuild the shed and the fence and all that.”
Vicki Gee Elected Director for West Boundary says there’s still clean up to be done.
“Every time you drive through Rock Creek, you can still see a lot of burned trees. It’s kind of hard to place yourself in terms of landmarks.”
The fire burned more than 4000 hectares of land.
