It was a resounding victory for the BC Lions on Thursday in Montreal.
BC was first on the board, with a field goal from Leone two and a half minutes in.
Montreal’s Bede whiffed a kick three minutes later, managing a single.
Shortly after, BC rushed a touchedown to take the lead to 9-1.
Not to be outdone, Montreal narrowed the lead 9-7 with a touchdown 10 seconds before the end of the first quarter.
It took less than 5 minutes into the second quarter for Montreal to take a one point lead, with a kick from Bede taking the Alouettes to 10-9.
Leone evened the score 3 minutes later, missing a kick.
BC would go on to score a touchdown and make a kick to end the first half with a 19-10 lead.
A field goal minutes into the third quarter pulled the Lions further ahead, with another single with little more than 6 minutes to go pushing the lead to 23-10.
With just more than 2 minutes to go, Montreal’s Glenn ran in a 5 yard touchdown, followed by a conversion kick from Bede to narrow BC’s lead to 23-17.
Another single would round out the third quarter to 23-18 for the Lions.
The last quarter belonged to BC.
A fumble from Montreal’s Louks at the start of the quarter was recovered by Purifoy, who went on to run in a touchdown.
With the single point conversion, BC was ahead 30-18.
A safety from Bede 5 minutes later stretched their lead to 32.
A pair of field goals from Leone closed out the quarter 38-18.
BC’s next game is at home on August 13th.
