Coast guard crews are in action this hour, after a Yacht started taking on water on the Sunshine Coast.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says crews were called to Pender Harbour around 2:30 this afternoon, after the Bellisima hit something under water puncturing holes in its hull.
Coast Guard spokesperson Dan Bates says fortunately, it appears no one was hurt.
“The Belissima ran aground and was taking on water. The local RCM SAR unit is on scene with pumps, as well as the [Coast Guard vessel] Cape Caution.”
Bates adds there looks to be no environmental damage.
“At this time no pollution has been observed. Divers are currently in the water and assessing damage to the hull of the vessel.”
Bates says crews are now working to boom off the yacht, which is carrying about 1500 litres of fuel.
The JRCC says it’s not clear what happened yet, but that the yacht is being pumped out and re-floated.
