The B.C. government says it’s disappointed Alberta has increased its mark-up for imported craft beer by one thousand percent and is now looking at its options.
Parliamentary Secretary for Liquor Reform John Yap says it’s going to affect all 118 craft brewers here in B.C.
“Our craft beer going into Alberta will be marked-up significantly and will be at a price disadvantage.”
Yap says the government is now reviewing solutions.
“We’ll have to see what options are available but first this is to see under the New West Partnership between the provinces what remedies might be available.”
That partnership is between B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Alberta announced it will provide its craft breweries with a subsidy to offset the mark-up.
