Vancouver Police are asking the public to leave their drones at home heading into the busiest weekend of the summer in downtown Vancouver.
Constable Brian Montague says with 300-thousand people expected to descend on the West End Saturday night for the Celebration of Light and another 100-thousand on Sunday for the pride parade, public safety is their top priority.
After 5 to 6 drones were spotted at the fireworks last night, he’s urging people to keep their flying devices at home.
“Even though a drone is fairly light, but one of those drones losing control in the air, losing battery power and following to the ground is somewhat dangerous.”
A drone did crash land on Davie Street but no one was injured.
