RBC scored 765 on a 1,000 point scale, but the good news is that between the top and bottom banks, RBC to Scotiabank, there is only a 12 point differential, down from 47 points in 2012.
The study points out that today consumers see little difference among the big banks. One of the major reasons is the tidal shift to online banking where bank customers do not have to interface with staff and long line ups, and can do their banking far more efficiently and quickly on a computer or smartphone.
The numbers once again bear this out with a current 34% of bank customers now using mobile banking compared to 20% in 2014.
And that number is growing rapidly, especially as millennials start to overtake traditional bank customers and do all their banking online, along with traditional bank customers finding the change to mobile banking less daunting than thought.
