It’s the last chance for Vancouver fans to see the Tragically Hip in concert tonight, and believe it or not tickets didn’t sell out.
Jeff Levine brought his daughter from Squamish to see her first concert and snagged tickets at the box office just two hours before the show.
“We just planned to buy from some scalpers and we saw some, we didn’t know if they were legit tickets or not, and some guy told us ‘you’d be better off going to gate 10 they’re still selling tickets’, and we went here and we just a pair in section 107 in the club section, for the face value.”
Levine says he met his wife at a Tragically Hip concert in college, making the experience extra special to share with his daughter.
Janine Morin-West has been a Hip fan for the past decade, saying she grew up with their music. She says she thought the tickets would sell out, and took extra precautions to ensure herself a seat.
“I would’ve thought there would be no tickets left, we tried really hard so we tried in all the pre-sales, fan pre-sales everything.”
The long time fan says it’s bittersweet to see her favourite band for the last time.
“Really heartbreaking, yeah, I’ve seen them seven times already and I’m only 25 and yeah you can imagine this is the end of like my concert going experience, until I find another Hip.”
She bought tickets for the Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg shows as well, and says she had an extra ticket to tonight’s show at Roger’s Arena.
