They’re doing the best with what they have.
That’s according to a new transit report card on TransLink service.
Transit blogger and Langley City Councillor Nathan Pachal says while Metro Vancouver maintains an ‘A’ grade for providing the most efficient service, investment in new transit service hours did not keep up with population growth in 2014, according to the latest data available.
“We need to continue to invest, and look at how we can match services to where it’s needed.”
The three levels of government have announced $740 million towards capital funding projects, including new SkyTrain rail cars, a new SeaBus and station upgrades.
But Pachal says covering operational costs is equally as important, which is the responsibility of local governments.
