Members of the Turkish military claim to have seized power in the country.
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim earlier said his nation is dealing with an “illegal attempt” to take power, staged by members of the military.
He stopped short of calling it a coup d’état.
“The government elected by the people remains in charge. This government will only go when the people say so.”
Earlier, military jets were heard flying over the capital, Ankara.
The military has issued its own statement saying it’s now in control.
The situation is still unfolding.
