Charges have been approved against a former government employee over missing money from an NDP MLA’s office in Victoria.
B.C.’s NDP Education critic Rob Fleming says former employee Marnie Ruth Offman stole money from his constituency office.
In a statement Fleming says it’s disturbing and shocking because it involves someone he works closely with.
Fleming filed a complaint with Victoria police.
In an email to CKNW, special prosecutor Dirk Ryneveld confirms Offman will face charges of fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and uttering forged documents.
The amount of money missing is unknown.
Fleming says he will remain tight lipped until the case is resolved.
