The City of Vancouver is getting ready to move ahead with the next phase of its crackdown on unlicensed pot shops.
Chief Licensing Inspector Andreea Thoma says the next batch of dispensaries flouting the city’s new pot shop bylaws should expect so see injunction papers, and soon.
“We’re anticipating to file 10 more under the MMRU medical marijuana related use within this week. I was thinking it was going to be filed by this week but it might actually be early next week.”
As to the 17 pot shops who’ve already been slapped with legal papers?
“So we’ve received responses from all 17. One has already closed voluntarily, another is planning to close by the end of the month, and a couple of others are looking to get into an agreement because of their lease, in terms of when they’re able to close.”
Earlier this week, Vancouver issued its second full business license to a qualifying dispensary.
