It will be at least another 72 hours before fifty thousand Canada Post workers can walk off the job.
The union representing postal workers has presented Canada Post a new offer.
Workers won’t be striking before Wednesday – as they are required to give a 72-hour notice – which has not been presented.
But Jon Hamilton with Canada Post says workers’ demands would cost at least $1-billion dollars.
“They rejected any changes we had proposed for the pension for new employees, these are employees we hadn’t hired yet; they tripled the wage increases that we had put forward; and even went to so far as to ask for the reinstatement of things that we had negotiated in the last round of negotiations in 2012.”
He says the costs of that would go towards the customer.
