Grad activities at a school in the South Slocan were cancelled Friday due to a threat to the safety of students and staff.
School district superintendent Jeff Jones says in a letter to parents that Mount Sentinel Secondary School was made aware of a serious threat, and organized early bus transportation to evacuate students shortly before 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
After consulting with police and investigators, the decision was made to cancel grad celebrations planned for the weekend.
He says there will be a date to host the activities in the future, but for now, is urging parents to be vigilant this weekend.
He assures parents the nature of the threat warranted the action the school district took.
CKNW has reached out to Slocan Lake RCMP for more information.
