43 suspects involved in the the Peace Region’s drug trade have been arrested according to the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, in an investigation that also seized fentanyl, cocaine, meth, guns, and money.
Staff Sergeant Lindsay Houghton says for now at least these lower-level crime members aren’t saying anything about the bigger fish who recruited them.
“Often times what they find is, especially once they go to jail, is they truly have no friends, the realization that it’s a dog-eat-dog every-person-for themselves world that’s filled with paranoia and violence. However it can’t be underestimated the amount of disruption that this has on those groups, it destabilizes them, it causes them to retract for a period of time.”
“At some point the light bulb will go on for them, it just hasn’t gone on for theses people yet.”
Weapons were also seized, including including an AR-15 semi-automatic weapon, along with 700 fentanyl pills, cocaine, meth and $70,000.
