With less than 24 hours before Britons head to the polls for the referendum on whether to stay in the European Union, a B.C. economist says a successful Brexit vote wouldn’t have a huge impact on Canada’s economy.
John Ries, a professor at the UBC Sauder School of Business.
He says Canada doesn’t do a lot of business with the EU.
“Most of our business is with the U.S. and with Asia, so if there is any disruption of business with the continent, any trouble, economic trouble there, I think the effect on Canada will be quite limited.”
However, Ries says an exit vote could stall the implementation of the Canada-EU Free Trade deal.
