Vancouver will see the highest increase in tourists among all Canadian cities this year, according to the latest report from the Conference Board of Canada.
The Travel Market Outlook report finds overnight visits to Vancouver are poised to grow by 4.1 per cent in 2016, thanks to the strength of domestic and international markets.
It says pleasure travel to the city should receive a boost from the opening of the Trump Hotel and from hosting the World Rugby Sevens Tournament.
The report also found Vancouver can expect to see strong growth in overseas visitors thanks to more flights from China, Japan, and South Korea and a strong cruiseship season.
Overall, Canada’s tourism will see another strong year with domestic visits up 2.1%, and overnight visits up 5%.
