As a development plan for the Joyce Area nears its approval date, residents are getting an opportunity to voice their concerns this week.
Chanel Ly with the Joyce Area Residents’ Association says there are many questions unanswered.
“Our concern are traffic, displacement, affordability and a lack of consultation.”
Tomorrow, Vancouver City Council will receive the draft Joyce-Collingwood Station Precinct Review, which could see major changes to the area, including high rise towers.
That has some residents concerned they could be pushed out of their home in a wave of development.
“It would be heartbreaking, heartbreaking to see that the city is going to go ahead and you know, pass this plan.”
She says the association is not against development, but they’re against projects that hurt the neighbourhood.
The public will have a chance to weigh in on the plan Wednesday, after which Council will vote on the proposed plan this Wednesday.
If approved, proposed rezonings will be sent to a public hearing.
